Today's work time total

I am currently using On The Job and am about to purchase a license. However, there is one rather simple feature that is missing (or I was unable to find it): Seeing the total number of hours that I have worked today.

I need this because I try to get close to 8 hours every day. Of course, I can easily see the number of hours for one item, and I can also see the total for the job. But where do I see today's total, summed up over all items - but only today's work? I do not want to create an invoice to find that out. Also, I don't want to add today's items by hand every time that I want to see where I am standing.

As an alternative, it would also be okay with me when I could select several items and then see their total time somewhere (like in an info bar or so). Then, I would simply select all of today's items and there would be my today's sum.

    Hi Madoc,

Unfortunately there is no way to accomplish what you're after without creating an invoice. I think you're right that this is a fairly large shortcoming of the current version of On The Job, and we plan to address it in a future release.

Thank you very much for writing!

    Hi Dan,

thanks a lot for your response. So, I will trust on Stunt Software to integrate that feature in a future version and buy the product as soon as my trial period expires. Everything else about On The Job is very fine.

Can I expand the idea please (don't worry - in a good way!)??!

An export of the timing data (to a viewer or perhaps just to csv) would be an excellent addition for reporting. Ideally, it would come with some config options to choose what to export. For example...

    1. limit to timings in a specific time period (e.g. today/this month/specified days).
    2. limit to locked/ticked/invoiced timings
    3. limit by client/job
    4. show all timings/total time each day/total time each week/total time each month

A basic one would do to start with though. There's a lot of useful data in our OnTheJob apps, it's such a shame we can't access it. And Madoc could see his

    Hi James,

Much of what you're asking for is already possible - just go to FIle->Export and chose the CSV option.

I have no idea how I missed that option! I'm truly shocked at myself! Thanks for pointing it out. I do still like Madoc's suggestion by the way - maybe an optional breakout window that shows today's stats/progress.

Can I just put in another vote for 'today's work time total' please - I would find that really useful.
