Job dates keep changing
Hi. I keep entering the dates for jobs, but often when I restart the application, those dates get changed to the date when I entered the data, rather than the dates I manually set. Does anyone know of a fix for this? Or has anyone else seen it? Unfortunately, if I can't get a solution soon I'll have to switch to a different application.

Hello,
Are these on tasks that have never had the timer run? Try running the timer for just a moment, and see if that preserves the date information.

I thought I'd follow up on this.
To answer the question above, these are all "Quantity" type jobs, so no, they haven't had the timer run. If I run the timer, will it set the date to today, or to the earlier date I previously set?
I also just sent this through the software feedback button:
I'm about to give up on this software, but thought I'd check one more time to see if you had any solutions.
The problem is that I am entering a lot of jobs as Item Type "Quantity" (so not using a timer). I set the dates to when the jobs were done, and all seems to be fine.
However, when I quit the software and then reopen it, I find that the dates on many of the jobs have been reset from the actual date of the work to the date on which I entered them. As you can imagine, it's incredibly frustrating to spend a lot of time entering correct data to then have the software change it.
Do you have any fix or workaround for this?

Actually, I've just tried the timer experiment.
If I correct the date, then run the timer, it changes the item to today's date, which is wrong. If I then correct the date (after the timer has run) the correct date seems to stick.
But this is still buggy behaviour. It shouldn't be necessary to run a timer for an untimed job.

Just an update for everyone:
Dan Messing contacted me directly about this. He looked into the problem, developed a bug fix, and sent me a private link to a beta of a new version.
I'm pleased to report that the problem now seems to be resolved.
I am also happy to be able to stick with On The Job. I did try several other invoicing apps, but greatly prefer the approach and interface of this one. While there are still some things I'd like to see, it's great to know that there is an active and responsive developer at work on it.
This type of personal contact and direct feedback is exactly why I prefer to support indie software development.
Great job, Dan and company.
