archive jobs/times
Hi,
I am new to the Mac, and the PC software I used to use isn't available for Mac (TraxTime).
I love a lot of the features that On The Job provides, but I'm struggling in one particular area. I would like to be able to leave all my time in On The Job for purposes of reporting, but I find that if I have multiple tasks in a job, it starts getting cluttered very quickly by the end of the week. Since there is no way to "start over" or archive old tasks and times, I end up creating my invoice and then deleting all my times previous times at the beginning of each week.
I wonder how useful it would be to provide a "daily" task list per job, that could then be stored or archived for browsing/reporting later, but would allow you to enter new tasks per client on a daily basis.
Thanks.
Ben

Hi Ben,
That is an interesting idea, we are working on some ideas for displaying your data in different ways. I will have to think more about how this could fit in.
For now, I would recommend maybe creating a new job for each week, or even day, and putting the old jobs into an "archive" folder if you want to have that data to reference later.

I'm looking for a similar solution to Ben, although something more along the lines of status/visibility for jobs and/or clients. OmniFocus does this real well, letting you mark a project as "Active/On Hold/Dropped/Completed". You can then use filters to show projects with a specific status. This way, old projects aren't left cluttering up your workspace, but by are still accessible rather easily. I know this undoubtedly sounds easier than it would be to actually implement, but I could see it being a huge benefit to the software.
Keep up the great work!
Thanks,
Pat

I like that idea, and I do agree that as people get more and more projects and jobs into On The Job that some sort of filtering & archiving mechanism will be necessary.
