Can On the Job do automatic numbering of the invoice, so that it wil be legal i Norway?
It seems I can change the number, the date and all information... but maybe this is just the trial version?

    It does auto-numbering.
If you add or edit a client, there's a button to 'Set Invoice Number Scheme'

yes it automatically makes a new number. but it seems I can just change it afterwards..? and then there is no real tracking of the invoices?

    Hello,

You can change the invoice number afterwards, as there are plenty of valid reasons to do so. I'm confused though - is the problem just that you would like to see this number locked after the invoice is created?

yes thats it, i think that in Norway we need a program that locks the invoice number...

Am confused about this auto numbering. I need to generate a new job number for each job I do, no matter what client I'm doing this for. How do I do this? I've dragged the blue 'elements' into the bar and the job number I typed in stays the same nothing else seems to happen?

If it's automatic how does this work?

    Any suggestions?

    Hi Ian,

It sounds like the Global # might do the trick for you - but you will need to set this for each client. There is currently no way to set an invoice scheme for multiple clients at once.

    Thanks Dan,

However, I must be doing something wrong. Could you explain what I need to do to get this to work? I have placed the 'Global' blue element in the area, typed in the job number I want it to start from. But each time I create a new Client/Job the number stays the same.
    Cheers

PS Is there detailed instructions I could download?

Just to add... I have placed the Global on the bar, and each time I create a new client the job number stays the same.

    Hi Ian,

The number is used by Invoices, not the jobs directly, so it only increments when you create a new invoice for that client. Could that be where the confusion is?

In relation to what was mentioned above...

I really think there should be a way to set an invoice scheme for multiple clients at once. Its a hassle having to redo my invoice naming scheme every time I add a new client.

I'm having some trouble getting started with this software - I've made a couple of clients and set invoice number schemes for each - but I can only drag in "January" and the date is wrong as well - see the attached image. My system clock is correct and I can't find anywhere where I can change the date in the application.

    James,

The date in that form is just a placeholder - in the actual invoice January will be replaced with the appropriate month.
