One simple feature request & one tougher one
Hi,
I have been using On The Job for the past year and it has been working great! Thanks for making a well polished piece of software. However, there are two things that I would love to see implemented.
1) In the "Outstanding Invoices" section if it could show the
total amount of all outstanding invoices that would save me from
spawning the calculator and figuring it out manually.
2) I would love to be able to run some reports that can answer
these two questions:
a) How many hours did I work today b) How many hours did I work
across date range X - Y
For #2 I know I can create an invoice across all
clients with a date range to get the answers but a report would be
a little bit less hacky :).
Thanks once again!
-Mike

Hi Mike,
The reason that Totals are not currently shown for the outstanding invoices is because we need to find a good way to handle different currencies. I agree this is an important feature though,.
Reports are something that we plan to work on in the future. Thanks for the feedback on what specifically you are looking for.

Agreed on both of these!

I also agree!
It would be very useful to have a some general summaries like:
How long did I work for today?
How much have I earned that hasn't been invoiced?
How much have I earned today / other time spans?
If different currencies causes a problem would it be possible to summarise them all separately? E.G: Outstanding invoices: US $300, GBP £400, EUR €2400 - I would bet a lot of people generally only work in one currency anyway.
I know most of these are answerable by producing an invoice, but this is a bit of a hack and is over the top for some of the more simple queries like a simple time check.
Many thanks for the great application,
Rob

Different "Rob" here, but this has been missing for me, too, specifically reports. Since I work on the same job and job items continuously, I have no way of telling what I've done recently, and my total just keeps getting higher.
Thanks for working on it and for your great customer support!

Thanks for the extra feedback - I agree - most users probably do only end up using one currency, but of course since it's possible we must take into account multiple currencies. Probably some kind of separation does make the most sense, or possibly actual currency conversion, although that introduces a whole new set of problems since the currency format is fully customizable and not currently tied to an actual currency.

I agree with all requests here!
Reports would be wonderfull. How much have i worked and earned in a time span, swown by one, some or all customers. A report for tax in a time span would also be very usefull for me (and at least all other norwegians - we have a tax system where we need to pay all income tax every second month).
I normallt work with 3 different currencies (norwegain kroners, am dollars and euro). I am a free lancers web designer and working a lot with other freelancers in other europeans countries. Sometimes I worj o their projects and I send them invocie in euro/dollar. Sometimes they work on my projects. Then I ad an amount of euro/dollar to a invoice in norwegian kroner - Maunally converitng and using Item Type:Quantity when adding to the norwegain job/invoice.
No application I have seen handles this stuff well. I am not sure what I would really need when it comes to features and reports to make this currency mess easier. Having it all on one app would anyway be wonderfull.
Thanx for a very good and easy to use app and good support.
