Hi,

is it possible to synch the "On The Job" Library between two or more Macs e.g. via MobileMe?

I would like to work on my "On The Job Projects" on both Macs (Office and Home-Office).

Thanks for your help.

Kindest regards from Berlin, Germany
Stefan

    Hi Stefan,

On The Job does not currently contain any synching mechanism. You can bring jobs or clients back and forth using the Save Archive... menu option (or just dragging the client/job to the desktop to save an archive file).

Syncing is something we are looking into for the future, as you are certainly not alone in wanting this capability.

Hi Dan, I was wondering if it is/will be possible to simply sync the
data file in ~/Library/Application Support/On the Job 3/ between
computers via Dropbox or something else. That way, you would not have
to implement syncing specifically in the future. You could just let
    the data file be relocated.

    Thanks!

    Hi Rob,

While some have reported success doing just that (using a symlink to relocate the folder), it is not something that has been tested by us, is not supported, and could lead to data loss or corruption of your entire On The Job database. It might be something we look at further in the future, but for now we don't have any official method of automatic syncing.

It would seem that if you dragged Client archives out of OTJ and into a Dropbox folder, then they would sync, and you could drag them into OTJ on the other Mac.

You'd need to be diligent about archiving every single time though.

I know a lot of folks out there need the mobile access and have gone with online time-tracking solutions because of the lack of sync. I used to be one of them, but not for a while now.
