Different start/end dates for fixed-cost items

I already spoke with Dan about this (and he agreed it would be good to have), but thought I would add it to the public discussion as well:

I had asked for him to add the ability to change start & end dates for fixed cost items. Much of my work is done for flat fee work, but I like to indicate when the project started and when it was completed.

It's weird when I have a 6 week project and the start/end dates are exactly the same.

Agreed - would be interested to hear other's thoughts as well, thanks for starting the discussion.

Just discovered this by accident: if I create a timed task, and then convert it to fixed cost, it retains the start/end dates.

Can I assume it shouldn't be too difficult to add this then?

    George,

In fact you can still add timed events to fixed cost items, which you would normally use for your own information, but if you manually add two timing sessions, one for the start date and one for the end date, you should be able to achieve what you are looking for.

Good enough for a temporary workaround, but would like to see it added as an official feature to just add specific start/end dates without having to add timing sessions.
