Hi, I have an Invoice template in On The Job 3 on one computer, that I would like to export and import into a few other computers that I have that are running On The Job 3. I was wondering if the customized invoice templates are stored on my computer somewhere so I could just transfer the files. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

    Hi Derek,

This is not currently possible, however we do have some internal support for it in the code, so it should be possible in a future version. I will note this as a feature request.

I would like to see this as well -- or a way to sync templates. Thanks!

I have the same request. I didn't figure this out until I had migrated most of my info from a desktop system to a new laptop. It's really frustrating to find out after nearly two months of using my new computer.

I purchased OTJ mostly because it was resident software instead of a cloud based app. I really didn't want my financial information being stored on someone else's server. However the convenience of cloud-ware is now painfully obvious.

I really can't understand why a resident app would not retain a copy of a user generated file. This is really a hassle having to rebuild something that should be readily available.

I guess I'll end up rebuilding my invoice template. However if this feature isn't added to the next major upgrade, I won't waste my time or money.

    Tim,

When you migrated computers, you could have also migrated over all of your On The Job data including invoice templates. I suppose it's probably too late for that now?

That said, having template files that can be shared is something that I also think would be extremely useful.

    Dan,

I haven't yet wiped the other hard drive yet, so how might I have copied over the template files? When searching my old system, I was unable to find any reference to a template file.

    Hi Tim,

The only option to get the template files over basically involces completely replacing the new version's database file, including any job data. So, if you have any jobs you want saved, save them as archives before doing this, as they will be wiped out.

First make sure On The Job is not running on either machine. Then copy the following folder over from the old machine:

    ~/Library/Application Support/On The Job 3/

Where the "~" represents your home folder.

When you start up On The Job on the new computer, it should contain all of your old data, including invoice templates.
