Grouping items and/or jobs

Hi Dan, great app. I purchased it a week ago and so far it is proving quite useful to me.

I was wondering if it is possible to group job items in an invoice to appear as a unique item with all their hours and cost added up.
An example: I use the timer to track time spent in tasks such as Design, Online meetings, Implementation, Tests, etc. but I don't want all of them to appear separately in the invoice (because an online meeting counts as work hours but the client doesn't want a concept "online meetings" to show in the invoice). What I suggest is to create a new Folder, move some items inside and generate an invoice where all the items inside the Folder appear as one single item with the name of the Folder. Instead I have to add fake timing sessions to some jobs and disable other items to make the invoice look ok.

If it is not possible to do this, you may consider it as a request for future releases.
Thanks a lot.

    Hi Pablo,

Thanks for your email. You can almost do what you are looking for by putting jobs in folders and creating an invoice for their parent folder, but currently the subtotals for each job will not show up on the invoice.

I will add this to our system as a feature request - thanks for the suggestion!

I have a client that requires the data to be broken out by the client we do the work for. I have been looking for this feature everywhere and I haven't seen any app, so far, that does it. And even though OTJ doesn't show it in the invoice preview, that summary data IS available if you export. It's not a pretty solution but it is there. I am considering purchasing it just for the ease of using folders to group things and getting at that summary! :)

But it would be nice to have that in the invoice output. Perhaps when editing a template and selecting the "Invoice Items" there can be an inspector, or options that shows up somewhere somehow, or a context menu or something, that says add group subtotals.

Oh those bottom tools are context sensitive! OK, so just add a checkbox or something. Click the button to add folder subtotals. Otherwise I'd have to write a custom XSLT conversion and that'd take some time! :) I'd be so willing to beta test it. And I would purchase immediately.

    Hi Design,

It's on our to-do list for sure. I will add you to our beta list, although I can't say right now how soon the next beta will be available.

Thanks much. I'll be purchasing either way. Good stuff here!

The ability to group jobs, with sub-totals, and then have one grand total on one invoice is very important, and I can't find any product that does that. I see the last response to this feature request was well over a year ago. I assume this feature will not be added? I'd think it would be a very obvious thing - not sure why it was never included... That is the one issue preventing me from purchasing.
