Is there a way to keep the Overflow window open at all times on the desktop level? Something like the functionality of Bowtie.

    Hi Todd,

Although it is possible through a hidden setting to keep the Overflow window always open, there is no way to set the window to the desktop level.

I have added this as a feature request, as I think others might also find it useful.

I would love to see this feature added. I am still in the trial period. Is this something that may happen soon? I would LOVE it to be a floating palette. thanks!

    Hi Kk,

As I mentioned, it is possible to have the window stay always open, although it will float above other regular windows. To do so, follow these steps:

    • Quit Overflow.

    • Launch the Terminal application (located in the Utilities folder in your Applications folder), enter the following line and press return:

    defaults write com.stuntsoftware.Overflow stayVisible YES

    • Relaunch Overflow, which will now stay visible.

To reverse this, follow the same steps but replace YES with NO.

I too would absolutely love this feature. If you guys could make it work something similar to kde 4 where the overflow would be pin to the desktop and i could simply hide windows and select a new applications to launch overflow would be absolutely perfect.

I too would really like to see the feature that is described above (i.e. remain visible and just "above" the desktop). In terms of simply having the window stay open, when I run the terminal command and then relaunch Overflow, it still doesn't work - the close "X" button in Overflow becomes unresponsive but when I click outside the window, Overflow disappears. Interestingly, when I click once on the desktop, Overflow remains, but a second click causes it to disappear. I am running 10.6.3

    Daniel,

Thanks for letting us know about that. Since it's not a supported feature it's possible that it broke in the last OS release without anyone noticing. I'll be sure to do some testing.

Add me to the list of those who would like the window pinned to the desktop!

I too am in the trial period, but would gladly purchase if this feature were added- it's the 1 thing I have been searching for! I can not seem to find a mouse based app launcher that can be pinned to the desktop...

Thanks, it's really a great app!
