Several Clicks Needed to Engage Overflow
Recently I've found that I when i click the Overflow icon in my
Dock, nothing happens. Usually it takes three or four clicks on
Overflow to see my apps. Also, the menu doesn't follow my mouse
click, even though I've selected this option in Prefs.
Any ideas why this may be happening? Is there a Snow Leopard update
coming soon?
Thanks,
Joel

The multiple click issue is a bug that we are looking into - I believe it has to do with Spaces under Snow Leopard (let me know if you're seeing it and NOT using the Spaces feature!). We hope to have a fix available soon.
The other problem you mentioned is not one I have heard of. Just to clarify, you do have the "Hot key snaps Overflow window to mouse location" checkbox checked in the preferences, but when you press the hotkey combo to bring up the Overflow window, it is not appearing under the mouse? Does it appear in a consistent location?

Thanks for the quick reply. I will look into the Spaces issue and let you know what happens.
As for the 2nd issue, I figured it out myself. I was using a mouse with a custom button that launched the app, which is different from launching via hotkey, which follows the cursor on the screen.

I see it and I'm not using SL, I am on 10.5.8 with spaces.. 8 of them to be precise. It happens on ALL of my Leopard installs. All have spaces enabled ranging from 4 to 10 spaces.

Thanks for the extra info - we hope to have a fix out for this soon.

Overflow has proved to be one of my most valuable apps on my Mac. Only recently though, I have noticed a change in it's operation which has got me puzzled. I used to use it on my G4 tower but I bought an iMac G5 and this is when the difference appeared. I used to be able to drag items, whether apps or docs, onto overflow and it automatically opened overflow and I could then drop a document directly onto an application to open it. Now overflow will not open on its own so it requires more mouse clicks.
I don't know if I've explained all this right but I hope you might have a solution to what I've done wrong.

We have a beta version of Overflow out now that we believe fixes the multiple click issue:
http://stuntsoftware.com/downloads/overflow_2.5.7b1.zip
Please let us know if you are still experiencing problems with that build.
Alex:
It sounds like you need to turn on "Enable access for assistive devices" in your System Preferences in the Universal Access section. Try that and restarting Overflow to see if that solves your problem.

I just downloaded it and will give it a try myself. It has been a
problem on ALL my Macs so I'll let you know in a couple of days.

What has become of this issue since mid-January?
For several months I have on certain occasions had the problem of needing multiple clicks to open Overload. When I tried the link above for the beta (it's 3 June), it led only to a 404 Page Not Found.
I don't have Snow Leopard, and I don't use Spaces.
Here is when I have the problem of needing to click 3, 4 or 5 times to get Overload onscreen (it will flash very briefly for the failed attempts): I have several programs open and several windows open. To be specific, I find myself with several programs and windows open when I'm working on my thesis, which means I've got at least Mellel and Word open, and several windows open in each, but often some other programs as well (maybe Bookends, maybe Scrivener, and there may be others).
Does that information help?

Same here. The "fix" did not fix it. I have it on multiple systems using Leopard. I dont have it on Snow leopard yet.
In my case, it works well till I try to start an adobe app after starting the first one. Typically I start LR and then I have issues opening CS4 Photoshop. I have to click several times.. the app flickers then goes away.
I do use spaces, alot. I have 8 spaces set up on my MacPro and 4 on my MBP. I also use Hyperspaces. I have the adobe files attached to a specific space as Safari and Firefox are also.

Hmmm. Could adobe apps be part of the issue?
Upon reading Mike Sweeney's post, I realized that one of the programs I have open when working on my thesis is Acrobat Reader, and plenty of articles open within it.
Hmmmm.

I'll so some testing with the adobe apps to see if I can turn anything up. VicyB, are you using Hyperspaces or just regular Spaces as well?

I don't use Spaces at all. I keep it turned off. I don't even know what Hyperspaces is.
I don't know if this is the kind of information you need to know, but my login items other than basic Mac ones are GrowlMenu, PTHPasteboard (there's a newer version, but it's for Snow Leopard, which I'm not using yet, so I have the last Leopard version), Caffeine, Canon IJ Network Scan, ClamXavSentry, yours (bien sur), Palm Desktop Background, Palm Desktop (but I often turn it off when it's not needed), GrowlHelperApp, Time Out (which I also often turn off), and RealPlayer Downloader.
However, as I said, it's when I have a lot of apps and windows open that I have the multi-click problem, and that happens when I'm working on my thesis.
Ciao!
